The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is the second generation 10″ tablet from the electronics giant.
It looks like Samsung have decided not to compete directly with the premium iPad range, but instead has trimmed down the Tab 2 to make it more affordable thus giving it more of a mass market appeal.
I can personally relate to this as I don’t see a tablet replacing my desktop or even my laptop, but it would be a great gadget to have in the living room. I imagine using it to look things up whilst watching TV, plugging it into the Hi Fi for music play back, and even streaming movies to the telly. But none of this is anything I can’t already do, so I’m not prepared to pay a premium.
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Specifications
As always, specs can vary from place to place and short notice changes, but here’s a quick round up of the Tab 2′s specifications as we understand them:
- 1 GHz Dual-Core Processor: Rumours of a quad core chip turned out to be true, other tablets have faster processors, but this chip is able to provide a smooth running experience.
- Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich): The built for tablets version of Android is the minimum you should be looking for in a tablet.
- microSD (up to 32GB): Sorry Apple, but I wouldn’t look twice at a device that can’t use removable storage.
- 256.7 x 175.3 x 9.7 mm: Samsung have kept the size to a minimum, but remember this is a 10″ device so you’re unlikely to get it into your pocket!
